Summer like temps will be arriving this week for the first time this year. It'll be pushing 110 in the deserts. The NWS has issued an excessive heat watch to commemorate the occasion. Still dry though, so we can enjoy it.

It's almost time for me to spend my days hibernating.

Antarctica is a desert too. Yes, we all know it gets hot. That doesn't make looking down the barrel of the heat gun any more enjoyable. I have vowed to spend much more time up north this year. Going to pretty much relocate to my cabin from the end of the school year. We'll see how that goes. I started hauling stuff up last week.

Frankly, I enjoy the heat but I'm always close to water. I've got a nice pool in the back or I'm on the lake.
I can't imagine living here without close access to water ,(ie a pool). I wouldn't enjoy the summers here at all without a way to enjoy the sunshine and cool off at the same time.
The only time last summer that the heat got to me was when I discovered there was ZERO insulation over the master bedroom in my house. I was blowing in insulation in the attic when the outside temps were in the 110's. I estimate the attice was 150 or better. It took a couple of hours to get that done so the pool was a welcome relief.

I built mine myself. It took me about 6 years of weekends. It is surprising how little you actually use it once you have it though. Mine is in an area where there are many. I talk to the new people when they move in and it's always "we are going to be up here every weekend!". That lasts for a month or so and then you never see them again. Next thing you know their place is up for sale. There is always something that gets in the way, it seems. I still have kids in school so have to be back here in early August. Someday....

You're new here. I hope you stay this way, but I think eventually you get like me. The pool is a bore and it is too hot next to it anyway. As for the lake, well the loading up at the end of the day, dropping it at storage, wrestling the cover back on, etc, makes it miserable. I don't even use my boat in summer here. I button it up about mid-June and don't look at it again until mid-Sep. Wet slips cost 400 a month or more which is too rich for my wallet.
