While the big order of this year will be the City of Phoenix contract (which should be awarded by June 1), the RPTA and the City of Tempe will be getting 20 and 16 new buses from New Flyer each, respectively.

For the RPTA, I presume this order will replace the aging Nova RTS fleet used on express routes, while the Tempe order I am guessing will replace additional NABI LFW buses (many of which were replaced with last year's order for New Flyer C40LFRs and DE60LFRs).

Did you have a link to an article, or perhaps a question?

I'm curious as to why you find this newsworthy. I live in Tempe, and I wouldn't post this here.

I am pretty sure there are users here who have an interest in public transit.

Since the RPTA buses will most likely replace the Nova RTS fleet used on express routes, I presume they will be diesel or diesel-electric hybrid models. The reason is because some of the Nova RTS buses are based out of the Glendale facility, which as far as I know isn't equipped for CNG nor LNG.

As for the 16 Tempe buses, I'd expect they would be either CNG or LNG models.

Of course, the big transit news will be when the City of Phoenix awards their 200-bus contract to a manufacturer on June 1. The manufacturers that have bid for the contract include New Flyer, North American Bus Industries, Gillig, and ElDorado National.
