If you got money to burn scottdale, north glendale, paradise valley is for you 500,000 +
Mesa, Tempe, Chandler more reasonable but there seems to be alot of child weirdos there.
South Glendale: Maryvale, stay away crime heaven
Ahwatukke (SP?) spendy as well.
It is not affordable here for those living paycheck to paycheck, or on a budget.
It doesn't take much to create a financial mess that become impossible.
You can find a home starting around $174,ooo but totally not worth the debt that later on will be hard to get rid of...
search the real estate sites to see for yourself, they don't lie.
RE/MAX | residential and commercial real estate
Realty Executives International: Find a Real Estate Agent or Full Service Real Estate Franchise Home Page, etc.
go to USPS - The United States Postal Service (U.S. Postal Service) to find zip codes to help the search

North glendale is a very nice area to live in. Union Hills and 51st Ave is the perfect place, the high school & junior high are opposite ends of the block with a elementary school (public) elementary (charter), boys & girls club couple blocks away walking distance. Right there is a skate park, aquatic center, la fitness, pretty much whatever you need. Nails, food, movies, shopping, mall, bus lines, park and ride 10 min down the road by car. Totally need to live by the park and ride if you work down town, bus beats the traffic by far-read a book, relax, sleep. Valley Metro - Roanoke Virginia - Public Transportion Bus Service

I PHX area there is a town called Maricopa which is out in the sticks south of Phoenix a bit of a drive, you know you're leaving town. It is a small community that has recently began to grow but not a place to live if you work in PHX with the drive.

PHX in general is call maricopa county which covers the neighboring communities, glendale, scottsdale, etc. and these communities are all connected in which you can't tell your leaving one and entering the other unless you really search for the tiny street sign that says so.

The light rail is crap right now, don't consider that unless you work down town and will live smack dam in the middle of pheonix. I will only service a small portion of PHX but I the distant future I am sure they will build to it. I still don't see how they will expect that thing to work well without interrupting traffic.

Look for the park & ride, best route if you work down town and commute from communities surrounding PHX. You don't want to live in PHX-PHX its junky.
All the newer communities surround PHX. Lot a minorities in PHX, no offense but with minorities and low income you get more crime.
