So, its 112 degrees out on the field. They are all suited up with helmets, pads, etc. They are doing exercises, running, and other stuff getting ready for Fall football. Isn't this dangerous? Why do high school coaches think this is ok? I see them at Hamilton in Chandler, and I think, as usual, this is nuts. JMHO

Why do you think thats too much? I wouldnt call that dangerous; they are young and in good physical condition to start. They have trainers, coaches, and are constantly supervised. They are going to have plenty of water/gatorade so that they can stay hydrated. Pads, and helmets trap minimal heat. The entire point of working now is to train so that when they put forth a full effort the weather wont bother them when its just a little cooler.

This is WONDERFUL weather to play football in. As long as they have water and wear the helmets they are fine.

I did it. They can handle it too, just stay hydrated. I'm assuming you're talking about Hamilton High? Football is serious bidness in Chandler

It's football not the ballet. As long as they're hydrated they'll be fine. Remember, if they make the pros they could end up in Green Bay one day playing in -35. I'd say that's more dangerous than 112.

The coaches here know how to handle training in this kind of heat. You can bet there are all kinds of electrolytes on hand for the kids. They might be miserable (who am I kidding? they are miserable), but they're not in danger.

Cold is easy. Playing in the heat sucks! Green Bay isn't that cold when you have played in Canada. Once you start running you don't even feel the cold and you can't pass out from the cold either. Is there a temperature where the practices are called off due to heat?
