I'm looking for nearby parks for dog walks. Not a "dog park", just a typical park with some wide open areas or trails and preferably areas that are not notorious for off leash dogs. Thanks

35 Ave and campbell (Just South of Camelback) Cielito park. This is the best park relatively close to you. I used to walk my dog here a lot back when I lived in W Phoenix. Be careful if you come here at night....

+1 to what Elcajones said. I wouldnt go for a walk in that area after dark. You can drive up to Butler Park. It's on 15th Ave between Northern and Dunlap. Very nice area and safe, even late at night.

You could also go to Encanto park just a couple miles south of you.

That is what I was going to suggest. My dog loves going there.

Good suggestions. There is also a PetSmarts Dog Park at Washington Park. Along 21st Ave near Maryland. Washington Park is big enough to walk your dog in too.

Thanks for the suggestions. I found Steele Indian School Park yesterday and it's very nice. Tons of space so you can take many different routes and not just walk the same old path out and back. I'll check out some of the other ones too.
