Has anyone had experience with Shea Homes, good or bad? Currently looking at some builders and they seem to be the best quality in my price range.

We do not own a Shea home but we are renting one right now and really like the floor plan as well as the build of the house. I can't say anything about the experience of purchasing Shea home but the home itself, we think are pretty good. Good luck!

Thanks for that, Foma.

What is the general area that you live? The place I'm looking at is wayyy out East in Queen Creek.

I live out in Buckeye. If Shea was building in areas we liked, then we would look into moving there. As for now, the places where they are building we are not interested in living in, including Buckeye.

Buckeye is fine, just a little rural. You're way out East, I'm way out West!

We bought a Shea home in Vistancia and have had no complaints to date. We looked at the other builders here and compared quality to price and Shea came out on top. We have heard many complaints about some of the others so I am grateful to have bought this home. The customer service people were wonderful to work with and came through with their promises to us. We also lived out of state while we were building here, so we put our faith in them to do a good job, which they did.
One suggestion would be to try to stick with the basics and upgrade later. Things like countertops and flooring. The model home center was a little on the expensive side. Best of luck to you.

Thanks so much! Yeah, this house is already built with upgrades in it. It was one of the models.

UGHHHH....I have to admit, as a first time home buyer who moved here in February, I feel really guilty for adding to the glut of homes on the market. Especially being so inefficient by creating a HUGE commute for myself. It's just that the market is bad now and new is cheaper than exisiting PLUS no one else lived in it. Moreover, one cannot even touch a decent quality, new, 1600 sf home in Tempe area where I work. YEah, I'd kill to live in a nice Tempe condo and walk to work but someone has to give me $350,000 for a one bedroom unit first.

I like Shea and I've know many people that owned one. We were going to build one years ago and I wish I would have. As long as you don't get that creepy old gray haired rude salesperson that keeps scratching his crotch you should be fine. I think his name is Don.

In all truth most of the large production builders out west put out low cost stick and mud homes...homes are built pretty much for one season out here, HOT, and construction techniques are marginal as stucco homes are only targeted for 20-30 years of life before MAJOR work will be required...pretty much any home built back in the Mid West or East is light years ahead quality/insulation wise...builders in AZ are a crap shoot based on where they are building, what they are building and how many illegals are being used to build it...
