Once again, as with every Christmas, ADEQ has to issue a High Pollution Advisory for no legitimate reason at all other than to ruin everyone's Christmas. The actual pollution level isn't any higher than it was yesterday.

I'm surprised nobody has ever tried to file a lawsuit against ADEQ for this. I bet ADEQ would lose if they were ever sued for this scam.

So, what does everyone here think?

What does ADEQ have to gain with this "scam"?

I agree, and I think this is legitimate grounds for a lawsuit.

No, I was asking you since you implied that this is part of some scam orchestrated by the ADEQ. If they are scamming the public, what are they trying to gain?

To ruin everyone's Christmas, obviously. They know that local residents want to have a nice warm fire outside tonight, since this is a Christmas tradition. ADEQ wants to restrict this tradition, regardless of the actual air quality.

The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality is plotting against everyone in the hopes of ruining Christmas??!! You must realize how utterly insane that sounds, right? Even if that were the case, why would they want to "ruin Christmas"?

Burn wood and if anyone happens to check you can tell them it is your only source of heat. Seriously, there is no conspiracy to ruin your Christmas. They just hope enough people actually follow the ban in order to limit the pollution.

You should take that link down. Some busybodies would actually do that.

We have a gas fire pit, but there are many out there who prefer wood. I know that indoor wood burning fireplaces have been banned here in Maricopa County since the 1990s, however, no such ban was ever placed on outdoor fire pits. We had some neighbors do a wood fire in front of their house last winter (not on Christmas), and I would think they would like it if they were allowed to do it on Christmas as well.
