I just moved to Los Angeles and Phoenix could be my next stop in a couple years. Is it as bad and unbearable as some people make it out to be?

I hate the cold, but I also hate extreme heat. I just moved from the east coast and I know that the heat there has a lot more humidity. I'm not really an outdoors person, but I love that the Phoenix area isn't expensive like LA.

If you hate the extreme heat this isn't the place for you. No more "extreme" place to pick from in the United States outside of death valley. So to answer your question...the heat is very bad especially for someone that doesn't enjoy the heat. June 29th of 2013 it was 119 degrees here, that's pretty extreme.

There are lots of existing threads on this subject.

It definitely gets hot here in the summer. I am from the east as well, but prefer the dry heat over the humidity. However, since you are in LA, I would advise taking a trip over here during July to get a sense of it for yourself. Hotels will be cheaper at that time.

Do people go outside when it reaches that high of a temperature? And is it like that all year long?

You might just want to research on this internet thing.

Something like, "monthly temperatures in Phoenix" should do the trick.

I'd rather a person that actually lives there tell me than looking it up on a place like Wikipedia.

I suggest looking at the monthly temperatures to give you an idea of how temperatures track year round since you are asking if it's hot all year round. I'd tell you this, I wouldn't live here if it was as hot as it is from May-August for an entire year.

I don't do a whole lot outside anyway.

But when I have kids and they're off of school for the summer, I'd like to do things with them.
