There's a lot of good information in the above posts.

As a dining option I would recommend Portillo's. They're east down Shea, just past the 101. They serve Chicago style hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, burgers and the like. There's a Barnes and Noble next door if you're in search of reading material.

If you have access to transportation, please considering visiting the Phoenix Zoo or Desert Botanical Gardens. Both are treasures of Scottsdale and offer a great way to enjoy the beautiful weather.

Actually the are treasures of Phoenix. Don't try to usurp our treasures, Scottsdale!

Old down (south scottsdale) for sure.

In other news, can we educate ourselves and not refer to all 'dance music' as techno?

I feel sorry for anyone who is bored in Scottsdale and can't find something fun to do there.

Scottsdale clubs and nightlife are not my cup of tea either but there should be a pretty good selection of places for the OP to go that aren't the typical show-off scene.

It's all about getting out and making the venture.

Agree with Java, there aren't just 'clubs' in old town. You have a smattering of various kinds of drinking establishments...locals hangouts, 'cantina' style laid back patios, biker bars, wine bars, sports bars etc. Feel free to ask for a recommendation. E
