Hi all! I am new to this forum. My husband and I are considering a move to metro Phoenix from Charlotte, NC this fall. We will most likely live in North Scottsdale or Paradise Valley. We homeschool our children and, two mornings a week, our son attends a private school that offers 80+ "à la carte" classes to K-12 homeschoolers. It is a great resource that we will really miss. Are there a lot of homeschoolers in the Valley? Are there any learning centers that are similar to the one we have in Charlotte? Thanks for your feedback.

There's this one in Mesa - it's part of the public school system, and offers homeschoolers a variety of schedules to cover things like art, music, sports, science labs, etc: Eagleridge.

Homeschooling is very popular in the valley and there are many groups - both religious and secular, and lots of classes and camps to get children involved in. The zoo, science museum, and botanical garden all offer excellent classes for homeschoolers, for example. You can find teams for just about any athletic activity as well. There are two homeschool enrichment programs, one being Eagleridge and the other CASA Vida that's part of the Kyrene school district.

My son currently attends CASA Vida and really enjoys it. The teachers are great and he loves being able to have a change of pace at the end of the week. CASA Vida is much smaller than Eagleridge (my son's current class size is 13) which I prefer. They do only go to 6th grade, so that's something to consider if your children are older.
