We have seen this critter around the house lately. It's been on the counter top in the bathroom and another one I found on the ironing board. I have never seen it before. It is very, very small...smaller than a grain of rice. Any ideas? I'm not a bug person, so it's kind of freaking me out.

That looks like an earwig. I use baking soda for bug protection. I fill an empty cream cheese or butter container full of baking soda and use a plastic teaspoon to put around the perimeters of all my rooms and closets, plus across my doorsills. If you have pets you should only drop baking soda behind furniture they can't get under or behind. I dump some between the refrig and counter and leave it there, dump some behind my stove. I sprinkle some on window sills outside-- they slide so I only put the b soda on the part where the window is not open.

Since you have a house, you can also put a teaspoon of b soda down each drain and leave it there all night. Put some in garage drain once if you have one, put some around the perimeters of the garage (if pets won't get to it).
