I'll admit, I'm a spoiled and pretentious ass when it comes to my beer. I'm from Oregon and we do it better than anyone.

Have been all around town and no one here really has tap handles worth. damn other than Yard House. All the local stuff really seems to be subpar.

Am I missing something? I figure a city this large on the West Coast has got to have some decent breweries. Your fine friends in San Diego are killin inhabit right now as well.

Ever been to Papago Brewery? They have some interesting brews of their own and a killer bottle selection. World of Beer in Tempe has quite a large draft selection too.

Oregon does not have Bell's or Dark Horse. So, in fact, Oregon cannot do it better than everyone.

The tap at FilmBar is nearly all local.

I definitely recommend World of Beer.

And if you ever want to take it one step further, there is an excellent home brewing store, Brewer's Connection, in Tempe.

thanks! hitting up papago today actually. i'll add the other to the list. I've heard that the issues with local quality brewing is the water source around here, which makes sense, is it really that poor? I'd imagine a great deal of investment would have to go into water treatment plants to get it just right.

Try Angel's Trumpet Ale House in downtown Phoenix, across the street from FilmBar. According to their online description, they have a huge selection of craft beer. I've been once, but didn't stay as the wait to get a table was too long.

I second Angel's and Trumpet. They have a rotating tap. Mostly out of state brews. There's an iPhone app called Tap Hunter that will list what they currently have. A few other local spots are on there as well.

There are period beer fests which will allow you to sample as well and find what you like

Peoria Artisan Brewery just opened up in Litchfield Park after being essentially a small craft private shop for a while .... I've found them to be really good

I like Papago as well as some San Tan and Four Peaks

I like SunUp as far as the place is concerned and the food is good .... beer is decent, but not great ....... feel much the same about Phoenix Brewing

While the craft beer craze hit many places early - it's still a pretty immature industry out here, but one that is growing rapidly .......... 11 years ago when I moved out the options were a lot less and it seemed many bars didn't extend beyond the mass domestic handles ......... so much better now and improving as they gain experience

The Arizona Brewers Guild is a good resource for a listing of places, events, etc

I prefer San Tan, then Four Peaks next. There's also a Thirsty Lion Pub in Tempe Marketplace which I think is an Oregon chain.
