I've used both. One really isn't much different than the other. Century Link's cable service (Prism) isn't available everywhere so check to see if it's available where you are. If it is, I think it'll come down to pricing. If it's not, Cox is really your only option. Unless you want to do internet and cable separately (and you'd be able to get your television through Dish or DirecTV.

This site has a good explanation as to how Prism works: CenturyLink | Experience Prism TV Service. See the Prism TV Demo.

I've had Cox internet for 6 years and it has been great. Cable internet (Cox) generally gets better reviews than DSL (Century Link).

Unfortunately Cox is still the best for the money I hate cox for a number of reasons but CLINK just doesn't have the same speeds in most places.

I wouldn't use cable for tv at all. Satellite is far superior IMHO. I've used DirecTV for decades. Tried cable briefly once and it was so cumbersome I lasted only about two months.

That's some serious bandwidth you purchased! Just curious, what applications do you find you need that kind of speed?

To the OP.....I've been very happy with Cox internet service for many years. It has been very reliable. We purchased the 25Mbps download speed service and I find I'm consistently getting around 30/in the low 30's.

It was mainly purchased when both my kids were at home and both constantly streamed netflix, hulu, music, youtube, etc. and my son hosted a game server. We would approach our data limit with cox and got a warning email from them about throttling so I upped it to the next tier. One kid is out of the house now so I could move it back down a tier but just have not messed with it.

For internet I've used Cox; I'm a full-time telecommuter so a consistent, reliable and fast connection is essential. There have only been two major issues in several years (one when a Cox server crashed; not sure about the other one), and I have been able to connect to my employer's network when colleagues who had satellite connections could not.

I dumped Cable TV years ago in favor of video streaming, and did not need to upgrade my internet connection to do so. I got tired of a meager channel lineup, endless commercial interruptions, and the 'expanded' package that supposedly gives you the 'first hundred channels' when in fact there was hardly anything between channels 80 and 100. When I had additional tiers as part of a promotional I found I hardly used them, so I returned the cable box after 90 days.

My hunch is that Cox has lost money due to people switching from cable TV to video streaming; there were two price hikes to my internet bill last year, but my bill is still much lower since dumping cable TV.

I do keep a land line for a variety of reasons (in addition to a cell phone) and I've kept that with Century Link; when I looked into switching there really wasn't any savings, so I just left it alone.
