Hello I was curious if anybody here can tell me if 20th St. and Bell Road is a decent safe area to live?
I heard that it's part of the extended Square and I just wanted to know since it's so close to Cave Creek and Bell Rd. Does anybody have previous experience living in this area or knew of anyone who did?
I am looking to rent a house in this area it's not right off of Bell Road but you have to pass 20th St. and Bell Road to get to it. Any help would be appreciated thank you.

It depends on where exactly that house is, it's sort of a mixed area. There are a couple of areas around that location that I've wondered about, Cave Creek Road south of Bell Road, it's an older area of Cave Creek Rd. I don't live there but I drive by there once or twice a week and for the most part, it's fairly decent area. There are plenty of very decent areas around Look-out Mountain and on the Greenway Parkway, they're mostly newer residential areas and they are decent. This is typical in Phoenix, where you'll have areas that can have some questionable activities, then a block or two away, you'll have a very decent area. That certainly applies to the area you're asking about.

On a scale from 1 to 10, with 10 being very decent, I'd give that area an overall rating of 8.

It's sort of tucked in you turn off bell rd and go down a few blocks and it's in the newer home division there.

It's most likely off the Greenway Parkway, and it's a decent area. There are quite a few good things about that area also, plenty of shopping for just about anything you can think of, Paradise Valley Mall is about 15-20 minutes from there, plenty of hiking trails on Look-out Mountain, on 16th Street about a 1/2 mile south of Bell Road. Cave Creek Road is a scenic 14-mile drive to the town of Cave Creek, The Greenway Parkway gives you good access to north Scottsdale, with not as many traffic lights as Bell Road, and the 101 Freeway, east and west-bound lanes are 2 miles north of bell and Cave Creek Roads.

It is a spotty area, but I think you need to look around, maybe drive around the immediate area at night and on a weekend day, and see what you think. As has been said, there are lots of areas around there that are okay. All other things being equal, I'd look elsewhere, but with the little bit of information we have, I'm not going to say absolutely not.

Knew what for sure? The area is spotty. If you like the house and are ok living in an area that's mixed between decent and not so nice, go for it. Too close to the square for me.
