Just need some advice before i yell at the appt ppl.

I set my temp at 82 when i leave the Appt but it runs all day and it never reaches 82. i came home tonight its freaking 89 degrees haha SRP is predicting my bill to be 150. I don't know if that is common for 1 bed room. I understand if A/C was not able to keep up during afternoon time but 9 pm at night that does not make sense.

i was just wondering if this is normal for phx A/C can't handle the hot temp or it is reasonable for me to take my anger out since this is my sec time complaining.

That sucks. Your AC should be able to maintain your set temp of 82.

Not normal at all. You should be able to get things to below 80.

Not normal at all, it sounds like the A/C is not functioning properly. There is no reason a properly working A/C should not cool down a 1 bedroom apartment to 82...or 72 for that matter.

I had a one bedroom apartment that was around 700 square feet and my bill was never more than $80. Kept it around 82 during the day and 78 at night. Plus I was on the second floor facing south, so it was a little bit warm during the day. Also bought blackout curtains to help keep the sun out.

I could run my A/C at 68 all summer if I wanted. Even when it gets to 115 to 120, the A/C will keep up.

I agree with the others, mr821 . . .

How old is the A/C System? I bet it is "over the hill" and about to croak.

That is not good! It must be an older unit. If your place is anything like mine, they will only replace the unit if it is completely non responsive and there are no more spots to use duct tape on! Luckily I live by the beach and don't need it more than 8-10 days a year.

BUT! There should be a city code for rental units covering that. I lived in Houston many many years where it has to be able to maintain at least 80 degrees in the warm months and 65 in the cold months. Otherwise they are in violation of city code. AC is not an amenity in most states. I don't know the code in Phoenix.

Did you change the air filters? Try closing the blinds during the day. Open up all the vents. If nothing works, yell at the apt. manager.

Not normal. They can fix it or you can break the lease, and possibly recover damages.

33-1364. Wrongful failure to supply heat, air conditioning, cooling, water, hot water or essential services
