AAA has helped me out several times. Sometimes its been a longgggg wait, but eventually they showed. They even rescued my son in law once which made me happy. My neighbor used her AAA once to rescue me also.

I like my Verizon coverage for $3 a month. They will change a flat, bring me gas if I run out, get my keys out if I lock them in my car, tow it, jump start it, etc...I've not had to use it much, so it has been a good deal for me!

What I like about AAA is that they get someone there generally within an hour anywhere in the US and Canada and at any time of day.

I have had friends cheap out and use the insurance product. While they always get reimbursed eventually, some of them have received a "call me in the morning" response when they call for service. That does NOT happen with AAA.

As Observer noted earlier in the thread, AAA will respond if you have a rental car. That is the ONLY call I have made since 2007, since I dumped my Olds.

My question is how FAR is the DISTANCE they will tow you. I want to take my car to MY garage, not the nearest one if I am 75 miles away. 75 miles get used up pretty quickly in Phoenix metro ... thanks ~

My hubby and I travel to Sedona and Flagstaff on occasion and we would really like 100 mile towing limit not 5 or 10 miles.

I have AAA Plus, which covers up to 100 miles of towing. Whenever I've needed a tow, I was relieved to have that coverage. And a flat tire? Yes, that membership is worth every penny.

Thank you. I have just eMailed AAA. I was told that it covers to the NEAREST repair station. I want to take my car to the dealership if I choose. Thanks again ~

Hmmm. Well, I've never broken down outside the Phoenix metro area, but I've always asked to be towed to my preferred garage in Phoenix, and it's never been a problem. Sorry to hear it won't work for your situation.

I'm so sorry, I misstated myself - I meant to say I have been told before that it was coverage for the nearest station. I wrote to CLARIFY. Apologies. I'll see what they write back tomorrow ~

We have State Farm insurance and they have a great deal on their roadside assistance for us, so it is the best deal for us.

But I've also used AAA for years and would recommend it. Besides using the service for other people's cars if you are there, another thing a lot of people don't know is that with membership you can get free, high quality maps at their local offices. Maps are getting expensive these days and it is a great thing to do before you go on vacation or after you move to a new area.

If you have the Plus coverage (well worth the extra dues) it isn't limited to the closest station, but to 100 miles, your choice of location. You do "only" get 4 100 mile tows a year. https://www.az.aaa.com/membership/compare-membership-levels#compare

There's lots of info available on their website. https://www.az.aaa.com/
