Ok I've heard recommendations for Sundance and said to stay away. Crime rate is low, especially compared to where I'm coming from. I may be sounding picky, dont mean to, but what are the real issues? I Know there are issues relating to auto based crime, theft and burglary, but are there any real serious issues to contend with? I have guns so enter at your risk ... I work inn the high school setting so I know the teenage mentality.... so what can I expect. Also, where do I stay away from if I don't want to experience that country.... cow poo.... smell?

Thanks all

My family and I also are planning on relocating to Arizona from California. We recently looked at homes in Verrado. I liked it a lot but I was disappointed by the rating of Verrado High school on great schools.org. Does anyone have any information on this high school? We are coming from an award winning "distinguished school" and district and I would like to find a comparable high school and community. Any advice is welcome. Thanks!

Triab3, there was a 19 year old boy killed about 2 months ago just a few blocks south of Harrison Dr in Watson Estates if that is the area you are talking about. The specifics of the story are below.

Buckeye police: Murder victim, suspects were friends

I would stay away from Watson like I said before.

If you are looking for information about smells in different communities I would suggest you try to find community pages on FB and ask specifics there.

What do you like to do? Are you moving here this weekend or visiting?

No matter what you are doing my main tip is to plan any outside activity for first thing in the morning or after the sun goes down. You will not be used to the weather and it takes a toll. It's almost 10 in the morning and it's 86 degrees outside and dry. Plus, we have had mild for us temps over the past few days due to some rain on Friday. Bring hats, sunglasses and sun screen. Always have water with you. Even if you're just running some errands you can get dehydrated quickly. The sun is fierce this time of year.

We are moving. Have a 13 yr old son, thinking things like public pools/ water parks. Family fun type of things to help ease his transition to a new place.

Buckeye has a city pool that's pretty nice. You can find information about it on the City of Buckeye webpage. My nephews about your son's age really like Wet n' Wild water park in northwest Phoenix. I also really enjoy the World Wildlife Zoo which is really close. I love feeding the giraffes. Check out White Tank Regional Park, I'm posting the link below. They do nature hikes and educational classes about local wildlife.

Summer is the time we go visit people in more habitable climates. There is nothing to do in Buckeye (or Phoenix for that matter) in summer, especially for boys that age. With girls you can go shopping. Better buy him a video game and wait for school to start. That's only a few weeks away.

The victim and the suspects KNEW ONE ANOTHER. That crime could have happened anywhere. Most violent crime in metro Phoenix, I'll hazard a relatively educated guess, involves people who know each other, first, and, in many cases, are involved in criminal activity, second. So, if people use common sense and avoid criminal activity, their chances of being involved in violent crime decrease substantially.
