Hi all,

My brother moved to Phoenix last year, but I don't know exactly where, other than what he told me: "West Phoenix-near Glendale." He's a young adult in his mid-20s, and it doesn't sound like he wants to stay in the Phoenix area for very long.

My question is: What are the areas of Phoneix that border Glendale like, for those familiar with that part (s) of the metro? What are the neighborhoods like, in terms of demographics, crime rates, number of young people in the area, etc.?

Sorry if this seems far too broad a location...but thanks in advance!

If the area he is referring to is Maryvale (which borders Glendale), that is definitely an area to avoid. Areas of Phoenix further north that border Glendale aren't nearly as bad. Also, southeast Glendale near Maryvale is also an area to avoid.

It's really too broad a question, as that's a large area. Cross streets would help, though neighborhoods right next to each other can be very different in some areas.

I live in just south of Camelback and 91st Ave., technically Phoenix, and technically Maryvale. Where I live is very nice, demographically very mixed, crime probably average, age groups are very mixed also. That said there are much nicer neighborhoods around here and much worse. It can be just a matter of a few blocks between the two. I think you'll need to nail down the location a little further.

Not a good area. Lots of illegals and crime. No habla ingles. Only nice areas of "Glendale" are sun city

If you're gonna be in the west valley you gotta go further out to Litchfield park or something.

For the most part in regards to Phoenix, north and east is good and south and west is bad.

The OP should pay no attention to this overgeneralized and largely inaccurate "response" to a question that was too broad in the first place.

Until we have a better idea of what specific area the OP is even asking about, there's no way to accurately answer the question.

This is just dumb. I'm not dignifying this response with further comments.

If you like Mexico, you'll love south Glendale/west Phoenix. Best thing is, you don't even need a passport!
