I like Sunsplash the best, it has way more rides than Big Surf. We bought a Groupon for Big Surf a few years ago and it looked as if it had not been updated since the early 90's and it just looked dumpy. A lot of the rides were closed because lack of proper staffing. We went to Sunsplash last year with discount tickets from Costco and it was MUCH BETTER. They had more thrill type rides and they had just opened up a new slide 5 days before we went!

It depends on what you want out of a waterpark. If you like a wavepool (like I do) I say Big Surf. If you want slides/rides then Sun Splash. If you want REALLY big slides, make the drive to Wet N Wild in the north valley.

I have a season pass for Big Surf and was there on Sunday. I love that wave pool. I rent an inflatable raft and take out past where the waves break and just float. It's awesome! I love the beachy feel of the place and they actually have comfy chairs (unlike Wet N Wild), and the employees are all super friendly. I didn't do any slides this visit, they all seemed to be running along with the zipline.

I also love that you can actually boogie board at Big Surf. It's a REAL wave pool.

Big Surf has a big wavepool, but the wave only comes like once every 5 minutes whereas Sunsplash and Wet N Wild have constant waves.

I have not been to Sunsplash, but I can tell you the "waves" at Wet N Wild are a joke. They are barely moving, and run for a time and stop for 15 minutes or so. Not nearly the same, IMO. Big Surf has a nice BIG wave and smaller waves behind it at. Much better IMO, closer to the ocean.

The waterpark at Arizona Grand. Do a staycation weekend (or btter weekdays if you can get the time off) with your family there and you will know why. The entire experience is not something you will get at a public pool. It does cost more, though.

I second Arizona Grand
you have Rustlers Roost and Auntchiladas for dinner.
Its great hanging on the main patio @ sunset w/fire pit and enjoying some adult beverages, not to mention the
gym which is top notch(except hot tub and steam). Its another world there.
Lazy river and awesome slides, lines not long on slides...

I don't go to water parks or public pools, but if you are a Chandler resident I think it's free to get into the pools/"water parks" at Hamilton and Basha High Schools. They both have large slides and the one at Basha also has a lazy river. They seem very popular whenever I drive by with lines up the stairs to the slides.

My question is which waterpark gets the most crowded in the summertime?

My guess is Big Surf because of the beach setup and the waves, making it look and feel like Florida or Hawaii.
