We visit Phoenix once a year in the fall. I haven't noticed really bad driving but then we're usually not on the roads during rush hour. What I have noticed (and what really messes me up) are the roundabouts off I-17 at W Happy Valley Road. They're terrifying. People speed through those circles.

This year I am going to avoid that exit altogether and exit the freeway at Pinnacle Peak if I need to go to Norterra.

You think drivers are bad in Phoenix? Come to Denver during the winter for one month. All big cities have the same conditions.

So many people think they are justified for driving the speed limit or less in the left lanes and feel that those behind them should just be patient, slow down, or go around. If more people would stay to the right and let people speed to their heart's content, we would not have nearly the amount of problems on our roads. Conversely, impatient drivers should realize that they are not going to get far if there are 100 people in front of them all traveling the same speed even if they cut off the few cars in front of them.

On a side note, I'm sure all replies to this thread should end with: "If everyone could just drive more like me"
I totally agree that a slow driver in the fast lane definitely creates big problems! But I don't believe that is the main part of the problem.

I also think that if I am in the fast lane, going faster than traffic to my right, there is traffic not too far ahead of me in the fast lane going the same speed, and I am also exceeding the speed limit... I am not obligated nor will I move over for any pushy driver behind me that just happens to want to get ahead of me. Just so they can then jam up behind the next vehicle in the fast lane. And, speeding to your heart's content is not a right in this country. It's illegal and not uncommonly leads to death and injury of innocent people.

Drivers in Phoenix are no better, and no worse, than drivers in any other major city in America.

This discussion already sounds like other threads previously posted on the same subject. History does repeat itself.

You scare too easily Could you imagine if they were full circles with double lanes all the way around? where people had to yield to the car on the inside...LOL Phoenicians would be so messed up.
