I see the Chandler area had some flooding problems last year. Is this an ongoing concern? Has the city done anything recently to improve drainage in times of heavy rain?

On a side note, I see the are a lot of stores and a couple of fairly new apartments that have been built within throwing distance of the landfill/dump which was the area that was flooded; can you smell it, or is it a noise issue with heavy equipment all of the time?

I am nowhere near there; a relocation to this area is a possibility.

The flooding we had last year was not normal we usually have a few inches from each storm last year we got like 6-7 inches in a few hours from hurricanes which pushed a lot of moisture up here. Some areas of Phoenix was reported as historical rain that only happens 1 time in 1000 years. I don't know how true that is because we have had great floods here they are usually every 100 years. This weekend national weather service is reporting Hurricane Dolores might drive moisture to AZ they aren't sure if we will the convection needed to build those kinds of storms. I have been here 21 years and never saw that kind of rain before. Last year I drove up to see Skunk Creek and New River I had never seen water like that before here it was truly amazing to see a dry river bed turn into a 20' deep raging river in a few hours.

Everyone in Phoenix has flooding problems when you have rain equal to Noah's flood. Roads just aren't built for that kind of rain. With that said, you have nothing to worry about if you move to Chandler--it's not an ongoing concern. (in my mind anyways)

No that's not true we do not have flooding every year we have washes that run across roads which stupid drives try to drive through and float away.

We don't have floods every year, no... but the rain from Hurricane Norbert last year caused problems of all kinds, and not just issues with washes. It took me 2 1/2 hours to get to work that day, no washes involved (there was a flooded underpass that was closed) The OP needs to realize that that kind of rain in that short a time is very uncommon here.
