I came across this graphic and thought of this conversation about the current El Nino and our hopes for this winter. In the past these strong El Ninos have led to some big time precipitation totals. I hope the pattern holds true...it would be extremely odd if it did not since they already feel it is at least 90% chance for average or above average rain fall this year just in terms of a forecast based on current data. So both the past and the present seem to be on our side.

I guess I better get that jumbo size bottle of Roundup. I don't want a bunch of weeds growing through the rocks.

Yeah, seriously. If you happen to have some weeds that get rained on go and spray them while the earth is still damp, helps it soak in easier and get taken up by the roots with the water. Or so I was told.

One thing I don't like about spraying weeds that are growing through rocks is that I think the rocks kind of diffuse the liquid as it tumbles through the rocks and who knows how much weed killer is really going where. I was never particularly effective at spraying weeds when I've done it myself even when I thought I was spraying "too much" but my other people and landscapers kill them easily so either they have stronger stuff or I was very good at doing it.
