Are you planning to work when you move here? You didn't mention kids so are you free to come to AZ on your own for a while to figure things out and see if it's for you both? You can leave the pets with a friend or family member. You can find a place to live in AZ as a pet or house sitter. You explore AZ and look for work. By the time your husband is back you can have a place ready for him in AZ or stay back at home where you are now.

I would rent a unit out if I had one available at that time to a vet any day of the week. It would be a shorter term rental until you could prove income but I'm not worried about income if you have savings or about big dogs as long as they aren't on my insurance list. Evictions take 22 days on average here if I had to get you out which is why I would take the risk on a vet.

We are both planning on working! We don't have kids, but I'm still working on my Bachelors. I will be graduating right before we leave, so there is no way I can take off and look for apartments. I'm hoping I can apply for jobs from here and interview when we get there as this is what normal college students do anyways.

AZ Manager, can you explain what you mean about big dogs being on an insurance list? If it means one of those labelled as "aggressive" breeds, they are not. One is a complete mutt (even the vet has no clue what he is mixed with) and the other is a lab mix. We are taking every precaution necessary to ensure our dogs will be accepted; they will be canine good citizen certified, they will have gone through advanced obedience training, and neutered. Any other recommendations to ensure someone would be willing to let us rent with big dogs would be very welcome!

I would rather rent to crack addicts than pet owners, sorry.

I've had both, the addicts did less damage.

Yes I mean restricted breeds like pits, rotts, german shepherds, great danes, dobermans, wolf mixes, huskies, chows, and the list goes on. That mutt might be a problem but if your rental insurance will cover it I wouldn't have a problem with it so you can start there. In AZ it is common for landlords to require $100k+ liability insurance with the landlord to be an additional insured on the policy for pet owners.
