Hi, I am looking around for activities that my daughter (10 yrs) can involve herself with in summer break. I am looking for activities in Chandler, South Tempe area and I cannot afford expensive lessons. Since I am new to this area and the country I would appreciate help on this. Thanks.

I would check with the local library, they always have summer programs for kids of some sort. Good way to keep your kids reading/learning as well and should definitely be free.

The local city park district should have a catalog of various classes/camps/activities as well that should be less expensive than many other options. Mostly sports-oriented stuff but might also have some learning and arts/crafts type opportunities as well.

Local churches may also have free summer programs, e.g. Vacation Bible School or so forth, these may be free or may waive the fee for low-income families, etc. Additionally, depending on the school district, there may be some offerings through the district as well for summer school, etc.

Get a copy of "Breaktime" at your library, if in Chandler. Has what you need.

Ditto on the local library. When I was a kid we used to go there to read and check out books. No activities just go there.

Here's a link to Maricopa County Parks. They have some activities. Just browse around.
