Nice post. Sorry that you have to encounter the provincial attitudes of some of the full timers. I am glad that you enjoyed staying here despite the downsides. You don't have to act as a guest. When you pay sales taxes here, you are helping to fund our road repair and construction, fire and police, and any social services programs that you may use. Your presence is a benefit to everyone here whether they realize it or not.

I'm sure the natives were saying the same thing when your ancestors decided to set up shop. Keep in mind that when the transplants leave, Arizona's economic crutch (real estate) collapses, your tax base dries up, and the state becomes an extreme political and economic backwater that would makes Mississippi look like Dubai.
