To be fair, the Valley has mentioned grandiose ideas before. Here is another conference center/hotel project. Let's see if it actually materializes.

"Chandler's City Council has endorsed what could become the next major addition to the city's Price Road Corridor: a 62-acre project that would include a Marriott hotel and conference center linked to a sprawling office park designed to draw thousands of new jobs to the city."

Chandler gives initial OK for hotel, conference center, office park

If it actually happens it could be good. The look of it works and the area would be good. The potential job openings would most definitely be good for the area.

I have my doubts. It's another strip mall/hotel combo with the "build it and they shall come" mantra which hasn't worked out too well in the past. I would much rather just recruit companies directly.

That's a lot of rooms in one little area. Starting at Frye Rd just on the North side of the 202 and moving down Price Rd there's a Hilton, Courtyard by Marriott, Homewood Suites, Hampton Inn, Fairfield Inn, Drury mid rise hotel (under construction). These are all within a couple blocks from each other and the proposed Marriott with the conference center would be in the same general area. On the South side of the Price Corridor (less than 2 miles South) is another hotel under construction (Home2Suites by Hilton). I think if this Marriott goes through that should just about be enough rooms LOL. I think the mall may even have some planned hotel space and that is within walking distance of the area as well.

They're doing a lot of these spec buildings a few miles East in the Chandler Airpark and there as been some success, but I do see a couple buildings still sitting empty at Cooper/Germann. From my perspective it is good because when an employer is ready to jump, there is space ready. As long as it isn't my money.

Yeah I agree and I think with the way things are going, hopefully some companies move in there.
