My family and I are relocating to Gilbert and we're building our home at Adora Trails. We've sold our home here in Chicago but are finding it incredibly difficult to find a home which is affordable (<$1,500 range), allows pets, has all appliances (no furniture necessary), and allows a 6 month or month to month lease. We'd like to stick to that time frame because the build estimate is March/April so we'd like to move when its done.

I've tried reaching out to some rental companies but they can only offer 1 year leases. I need a two car garage to store my woodworking tools as I don't feel comfortable storing them elsewhere (and they're super heavy anyway so a storage unit is not really an option).

Anyone know someone who is looking to offload their place for something like this or are there any agents reading this that know something we may not about finding a place like this?

We are looking at around October 15 for the move in date. Any help offered would be appreciated.

I know there's a few threads that have covered some good websites. My only advice is Good luck. All the snowbirds are starting to come in right now, and that's about how long they are staying. Most places will probably be taken by then. With winter rates coming and garages here are harder to find then pools, especially two car, I would be prepared to sign something immediately, even if it sits there empty for a few weeks.

Thanks adriver, I'm starting to think the same which is why I'm calling around today. I'm almost thinking of just signing a one year lease and eating the cost if I can't find someone to sublease it from me when we're ready to move.

If you're thinking of going in that direction, I'd figure on eating the lease for the entire year. The likelihood of finding somebody who wants an unfurnished home for six months starting in May are not high.

A very good point

I've now switched gears into looking at apartment complexes that offer garages for storage. This seems like the most likely candidate due to the short term leases they offer.

that will be a lot easier.

I have sent this info to a few people on here. Its an apt locator service I used. I was looking for a while, and ended up calling this place in the morning, went in around noon, and if it wasn't for waiting on my current place at the time, I would have moved in that night. It costs $10, (for general credit and criminal background check, they make there money when you put them as a referral when signing the lease). I am not affiliated in any way other than used em once and very happy.

He had a 3 inch binder of all the properties, and once you tell him; what you need, how big, your looking for a garage, sq ft, location, and any other requirements, they will call around and give you a list of what meets your criteria. I know they have some houses too. I will never start looking any other way.

If it helps; PM sent.
