there are some wonderful patio homes in the Biltmore/Arcadia areas. These areas, allthough older are VERY upscale and have more of a mid-west or southern California feel to them which I bring up because you mentioned in your original post that your wife is not keen on the area. Additionally, Biltmore, Arcadia is 10 min or so from the airport and a patio/townhome is going to be much less of a maintenance burden than single family detached. Hope this is another perspective you will find useful. :-)
