Can anyone tell me where it starts getting better (which major street) ?

I'd like to live in N.Scottsdale but I can't spend over $325k so either I have to move further south or further north. Which is better in your opinion?

Also what do you think of the 85018 zip code?

thank you Arizonians
My parents live in South Scottsdale. No tagging or gang activity in their area. Worst crime is burglary/car theft, but all of Scottsdale is a target for that. Police department is good though.

Any so-called "realtor" who responds with ignorant nonsense such as this simply cannot be trusted.

Haha. I didn't even see that post. This person's ignorance is proven through his implying that the salt river is at Thomas/Hayden (the river is actually about 3 miles south of Thomas, at which point you hit ASU in Tempe) . My parents are right about at Thomas, so I guess they're safe. Whew. But, cross the street and man, tweakerville! Lol. Actually, there are some really nice upper middle class neighborhoods all through south scottsdale, even at McDowell and Hayden...even at McKellips/Hayden lol.

There are tweakers everywhere. Snottsdale...er...Scottsdale is no exception. There are good and bad neighborhoods everywhere as well. I live in Goodyear in a mostly decent middle class area, but about 2 miles east of here is a different story. It's an older part of town and reminds me a bit of Nogales. Anyway, when I think of bad crime areas in AZ, Scottsdale doesn't even make it in the top 10. More like, south phoenix, north Mesa, south Chandler, etc.... Anyway, if you're concerned about "tweakers", stay away from Sunnyslope. haha.

This came up earlier this month. Here's my post with a link to Scottsdale PD's Crime Stats. My wife and I are considering a move back to Scottsdale when she retires since it appears we're going to fall a few bucks short of being able to afford Carmel, CA . 85250 will be our starting point in looking at homes. I grew up in 85257, Granite Reef and McDowell area. Good luck.

I agree the scottsdale residents wont stand for any gang activity in any part. The residents and Scottsdale police work together pretty good to keep the gangs on the south side of the river..

Of course there are tweakers everywhere. But to imply that Scottsdale south of Thomas is tweakerville is ridiculous.

South scottsdale is very different from North Scottsdale. Not bad, but different. If you want feel like you live in North Scottdale, but at a cheaper price move west some. Going south of the 101 or Frank Lloyd Wright and it changes completely. Again not bad, just different. I guess what aspects of North Scottsdale are appealling? Schools, landscape, proximity to jobs, etc

I take it you either live in that area, or are a tweeker yourself..sorry..the truth is a bitter pill to swallow sometimes..i grew up in that area, ive seen the depreciation, the viloence, and dopers there. Facts speak for themselves..has nothing to do with realtor trust issues..any person with an IQ greater than 5 can drive there themselves and make that discernment. You drive south on Scottsdale you pass the porn shop the topless bars and delapitated neighborhhod built in the early 50's (tweekerville Scottsdale) pass the 101 your in Tempe tweekerville Sdale/Mclintock to Main then east to Alma in Mesa. You can call it ignorant nonsense if you want, but it only shows your own ignorance of the area.

I understand you standing up for your parents "hood" sorry i made a mistake seperating the borders of the scottsdale area scum from the tempe area scum..but calling me ignorant was a little much....So you were right about the area your parents live in..a few nice places. But I do agree with you when you said "just dont cross the street though" ..It is very likely you will run into a tempe or scottsdale tweeker selling drugs at the topless bar or the porn shop and he may steal your wallet, or worse. You know the places Im talking about right? Thomas/ Scottsdale (and Hayden) Around the corner and across the street from your parents house?..And thanks for verifing my origonal post about south scottsdale.
