I am just beginning my research on possibly relocating to the Phoenix area, so I know little about the various towns. Been studying hard online, Peoria, Gilbert, Val Vista etc., but only so much can be learned remotely. However one thing seems impossible, and it is what I'd like to find...

A place where I can have a house on the water with enough land to keep a big RV, maybe a boat, room to build a big garage. Seems all water front living is crammed together tightly, and even if the property could fit an RV there would be HOA rules against it.

But! Again, I don't know the area. I have discovered Val Vista Lakes, The Islands, Alhambra Lakes, and these don't seem to provide what I want. Does anyone know of a body of water that has my scenario possible? Thanks!

I don't believe it exists here. All larger lakes are on federal land (and state?) and don't have houses on them. It's not like other places that have inland lakes with houses and cottages on them. That's one of the few things I really miss about Michigan. There's nothing like being able to walk out your back door and be out on the lake.

It is the desert, you're looking in the wrong place. What you're looking for doesn't exist here.

All you are going to find here are man made bodies of water in master planned communities.

Florida might suit you better. Or Tennessee. Basically any state with abundant water and room to grow on said water.

Try the area around Lake Havasu or Parker. I am not sure you can get lakefront, but you can certainly get water view lots reasonably.

What AZJoeD said...or some of the other towns along the Colorado river. Phoenix doesn't have what you are looking for.
