I am considering relocating to the Chandler/Gilbert area. Can someone enlighten me as to the reputation of the home builders in the area? Who are to good? Who are the bad?

Default Builders

DR Horton builds a high end home at an affordable price. Also I am impressed with Pulte and the Brown Family homes. Hope this helps.

We purchased our home from Shea Homes and have no complaints. They seem to build a decent home and we like the floor plans. Good luck in your search.

If you are thinking of buying a new home, be cautious of these builders: Home Builders in Financial Trouble (http://www.re.state.az.us/PUBLIC_INFO/Documents/Homebuilders_In_Trouble.pdf - broken link)

I would buy a resale right now in an established area.

Among the builders who are not in financial trouble, who is the most reliable builder in your opinion regardless of their fees? Is there one builder that you trust 100% even though you will likely pay a premium for their services? Is there such a thing or is it just luck?

I would like to build a house. There is a lot that I'm very interested in purchasing. However, I've heard it can be a nightmare to build a home. I've heard that even if you do your homework, you end up paying far more money than you planned on paying and it can be very tedious.

I would but the problem I've encountered is the luxury homes are still priced ridiculously high especially in the areas I'm interested in and I'm not interested in Paradise Valley or North Scottsdale either. Right now, I'm going to wait it out and hope some of those homes come down but I'm not so sure.
