Your reasons for leaving it out just don't wash, sorry. And Westgate on the west side is in no way "southwest". Yes, I know Westgate is in Glendale, but it's not SOUTH. "South of Northern Avenue". No, sorry, Glendale is too far north to be southwest.

You can set up your poll however you want, but as someone who used to work with public opinion polls, how they are set up determines whether the results are worth anything.
Luke AFB is just as south as Westgate is, I haven't heard of yet one person NOT refer to Luke AFB as part of the SW Valley.

Tempe is a lot different than the other suburbs on the poll. Sorry, it doesn't belong here. The other suburbs like Chandler and Gilbert are a lot more homogenous, as Pink Jazz already mentioned.

Both SE Valley and SW Valley are:
- Longer commutes to jobs
- Mostly NEW development
- Offer similar neighborhoods and stores/amenities
- Next to no public transportation
- Mostly Republican

For the most part, the suburbs I listed have very similar qualities. So why introduce a suburb that is beyond different? I'm not trying to get people to say SE Valley because of Tempe alone. What's the pros and cons between what Gilbert offers and Avondale? Chandler and Goodyear? Tolleson and San Tan? Let's be realistic, Tempe is nothing like the other suburbs on this poll. It's a lot different, and in my humble opinion, better, but that's not why I created this poll. I didn't want to talk about Tempe.

You said something about not wanting to participate...

You might as well ask if one preferred being shot or stabbed. The poll needs a "neither" choice.

I would agree that is the case for most of the Southeast Valley such as Gilbert, East Mesa, and most of Chandler, but I would disagree for much of the Southwest Valley. While that may be the case for Goodyear, Buckeye, Litchfield Park, and northern Avondale, I wouldn't say that is the case for Tolleson, Maryvale, southern Avondale, or southeastern Glendale, since those areas are heavily Hispanic.

Chandler has a much larger economy than any of the others listed above, really an export economy with very high paying jobs and Gilbert has ASU's Poly-tech campus. Gilberts Downtown is really blowing up and growing with non-chain high quality restaurants and a decent night life. Gilbert also has bike paths throughout the downtown area which is really a great transportation benefit.

To me Queen Creek and San Tan Valley are most comparable to the SW valley and have very similar price points.

Even without Tempe, the east valley will win. It will always win, regardless of how you manipulate the poll. We've had a million east vs west on here and east always prevails.

The ASU Research Park in Tempe on Warner/101 with all of those jobs including GoDaddy, Amkor, Northern Trust and various high tech jobs is definitely in the SE valley. Hell there's parts of Chandler and Mesa closer to the center of Phoenix than that area, and it's right across the street from Chandler. People in Tempe largely shop at Chandler Fashion Center, even many ASU students as an alternative to Scottsdale Fashion Square. Tempe and Chandler really blend together in that area of South Tempe. I live in the South Chandler and even I can be in Tempe in less than 10 minutes and my wife works in Tempe with an easy commute.

Also, as far as public transportation goes, Mesa at least has adequate public transportation compared to Chandler and Gilbert with more corridors served and several of the routes being more frequent, although many routes (particularly the north-south routes) are concentrated in western and central Mesa.

What is the point of this thread? A ton of nonsense for what reason other than to have the east valley/west valley debate over and over. I got a headache just reading the OP.

Not sure how can you give 5 points to SE valley versus 4 points to SW valley.
Chandler, by itself, has bigger economy and more jobs than all the SE and SW valley cities in your list, combined.

Right and the parks in the SE valley get a 4, despite having the best park availability of any corner of the valley. Wildcat logic
