Now in our old MN neighborhood, we had a basketball hoop in our front yard. And the kids occasionally played street hockey. But we had 2+ acres and the traffic was mild. I didn't mind a bit to watch the kids having fun and getting exercise. And if someone got their Depends underwear in a bundle, that would strike me as a tightly wound individual. I guess they should go off to pasture somewhere and get away from LIFE (like dogs do when they know they are going to die soon).

I stand by my point of view. I don't want to be around a bunch of near-dead curmudgeons who want absolute peace and quiet. To me at least, that sounds like a boring and bitter life. Now, if I had a bunch of disrespectful neighborhood kids with big mouths, I'd be singing a different tune about kids. But 99.99% of the time, the core problem is lousy parents. As I said, people need to buy into a better neighborhood in their town of choice in order to get rid of most (not all) the Riff Raff. In my 33 years of home ownership, I had two bad experiences. An owner who lost his house and rented to a group of partiers (it was three months of weekend Hell and the streets were filled with losers p_ssing in our grass) until the bank took it back. And a loser teen who raced up and down the road. The neighbors talked with the not-so-good parents and got him in line. Problem solved. Shy of that, its been smooth sailing.
You've been lucky so far. We DID buy into a "better neighborhood" but sadly the demographics changed when investor groups were allowed to buy up blocks of homes and rent 'em all out to anyone with a pulse and a check. Imagine if there were lots of houses in Marley Park filled with those partiers, you'd be singing a different tune then I'd bet.

In the 14 houses we've been in across this country over the last 20 years I've not seen so many people who've got so little respect for others and only care about what they want to do until now.

As for parks, yes we've got 'em and yet kids still play in the streets. There's one new rental family that moved in who's 6 year olds set up a jump at the end of their driveway and jump their bicycles/scooters into the street with absolutely no care if cars are coming. How they've not been run over yet is beyond me. Parents standing right there in the garage watching 'em and they glare or give dirty looks should you honk or shake your head after having to slam on your brakes to stop from hitting their spawn.

As for playing basketball in the driveway/street, I don't mind it much either if the kids stop and move out of the way when cars are trying to go by or control the ball so it doesn't hit neighbors parked cars but we've got some that don't. They want YOU to wait for them and dare you to keep going literally dribbling the ball in the street until they decide it's enough. Yep, their parents are trailer trash that can just afford $1200 mo rent and utilities so we're stuck with them.

One time while living in Marley Park less than a year ago, I heard some commotion in my front yard. I looked out and saw three neighborhood boys turning over boulders in my landscaping. I ran to the door and ask them what they were doing and they replied they were looking for lizards.I told them to be careful because I had seen rattlesnakes under those boulders. Of course the parents were nowhere to be found. They left and went across the street to another neighbors and did the same thing

They had overturned three large boulders and destroyed my professionally installed landscaping. I was not able To put the boulders back because of their size and the landscape rock around them was everywhere. Marley Park residents were horrible in my experience.

I would have asked where they live and then talked with the parents. Then I'd ask to be reimbursed.

We probably met and you hated me. Because we are all alike: trashy, disrespectful, uneducated and messy. Just HORRIBLE people. Oh, those kids were searching for dinner for their hillbilly parents. JUST kidding!
