Hello everyone.

It might be a stupid question but: has anyone ever experienced a high-end smartphone shutdown during a drive as a recording tool / GPS ?

For example I do have a Samsung S7 edge that i would like to mount it on the dashboard of the car, to record on 4K something while driving ....5 to 10 minutes clips per time.
Does the direct sunlight on the dashboard might provoke an overheating? Off course i mean a car that is moving and with air conditioning on the windshield...I will not let the phone on the parked car with raising temperature in the cabin.

There can't be people that knows this things better than you, as I've seen yesterday was 40 degrees on Phoenix and i have to come there in the end of May.

I don't want to use a GoPro with all batteries and tools. This Phone can handle same purposes but those temperatures scares me a little bit, if I'm mounting the phone it in the windshield/dashboard for recording.

What's your feedbacks?

You should be fine, almost every Uber drive I’ve used has a phone mounted on their windshield and appear to leave it there all day, every day.

I've had that happen plenty of times. The AC won't help keep a phone cool if it's in the direct sunlight.

The heat can 100% damage your cellphone (most likely the battery).

Yes, I have. Dozens of times. I have had to move my iPhone to a shady spot in the car until the device cooled off.
