We've been doing that with Mayo for years.
Not in AZ. I spoke with Mayo Scottsdale several times and they will NOT accept whatever Medicare pays as it's too low. You will pay the difference which could be sizable...

I maybe wrong, but I believe there is only one carrier left on the ACA exchange in Arizona and they’re not inexpensive. If you’re a member, maybe you could reach out to AARP for advice. They were shills for the ACA during the last president’s term. Maybe you could maintain your Iowa resident status until you qualify for Medicare? This is a big deal financially, possibly $1000 - $1500 per month . . .

Yep, for one person. For anything decent. I am apart of a big employer plan after I retired and am paying for one person with a sizable deductible $1100 a month. Can't imagine what the exchanges are charging. Before Obamacare it was about half that. Thank you Obama!!

Sorry but that's incorrect, I live in AZ, since 1962, and we go to Mayo here, both facilities, and they accept exactly what I posted. We have never had to pay any difference.
Maybe your insurance co offers too low re-payment and that's your situation to solve, or you spoke to the wrong person at Mayo.

Good to know about Mayo's payment situation. I knew they had to at least except 60% of medicare by law and could ask for more above and beyond. Paying out of pocket and then getting reimbursed at least allows us to use their medical facilities... :-).

I am hopeful that maybe I can maintain Iowa resident status for about 14 months until I am medicare eligible. I am on a grandmothered plan right now in Iowa and it is only in force "for sure" until December 2019. I need the plan to run until November 2020. So, a lot, depends on what happens with my current Iowa plan. If I am kicked off at the end of 2019, I will go ahead and get an ACA plan in Arizona if Trump doesn't screw that up in the meantime.

The worst part is that my Iowa grandmothered plan is $675 a month with only a $1,900 OOP. If I switch to a ACA plan. The premium will be around 900 monthly minimum with an OOP after premium costs of about 6,500. But I can cross my fingers and hope I am reasonably healthy for 10 months!

LOL. And that's Trump's fault? It's called Obama care.

And it's only going go get much worse. Medicare will help some.
