I'll just say that I moved to Buckeye just over a year ago from the midwest and I actually really like it. Yes, the big draw was getting an almost new house for a really good price; and I work from home so the commute is not an issue for me. I do make a good salary and could have afforded some of the other cities that are more "well thought of" out here; but I honestly like to be away from the busy, traffic areas. Even just going into Goodyear or Avondale, it's much busier on those roads. So, I like getting back to Buckeye and having less traffic to deal with. And I honestly don't think it's a big deal to drive a half an hour or so to get into Phoenix when we go there for something like a restaurant or sporting event. We drive over to Scottsdale often too and can do that in about 45 minutes. I don't know, to me it just doesn't seem all "that far out" like people on here say, but then again, where I came from driving up to an hour to get to various work and play locations was the normal, so maybe I'm just used to driving to get where I want to go. Everyone has different things that are important to them, it just depends on what is important to you. But I certainly don't think Buckeye is horrible as some people on here portray it to be, and I quite honestly really like it.

Update .........We bought in Buckeye!!! liked the area and although its far its really no different than where I'm coming from now except its dessert and not trees along the highway, Im coming from a suburb of Pittsburgh and if we ever wanted to hit downtown it was pretty much the same commute minus the potholes Pa cant seem to fix EVER! We walked the neighborhood met the neighbors went to stores in the area and one thing that stood out was the fact that while we were outside talking with the realtor for a bit (it was hot!) almost every person that passed us waved ! that was new to me. I think its all gonna workout nice for us. Heat was crazy! but what I noticed was I didn't sweat the whole time i was there and while I am here in Pa I break a sweat in 80 degree weather walking to check my mail.

Buckeye is looking like a good place to buy a home compared to Prescott/Prescott Valley. I'm looking in the area and in Queen Creek or San Tan Valley. Don't think I'll stay in Prescott Valley long term due to it becoming an expensive version of Sun City.

Congrats! We experienced the same thing with people out here when we made the move from MI last year. It is a different, laid back vibe compared to the bigger cities in the midwest. And I can totally relate to what you are saying about the absence of potholes out here, LOL! I was just back in MI for a visit recently and I had forgotten how bad the roads are back there, it was like riding on railroad tracks everywhere I went there compared to our smooth roads out here! I was happy to get back "home" to Arizona ... and since I kept thinking I want to get back home to AZ, I felt like the decision for us to move out here last year was definitely confirmed after that visit back to MI. :-)

yep, it just takes a visit back to the midwest to remind you how great Arizona is compared to there..

sure, its hot as an oven for the next month or so, but, otherwise, we feel like we are on vacation every day out here..

Here in MN, we have been getting rain, rain, and more rain. That also means bugs, bugs, and more bugs. There are lot's of trade-offs.

I feel for you man, my friends back in Illinois have been complaining about the endless rain there too the last month or so..
and, of course, out here, we pine for more rain..

Look at the bright side; at least you are missing the 115-120 stuff that is supposedly coming here this week..

Rain also means green. If people have burnt grass now, there is no hope for their lawn. The sun came out around 1 PM so we jumped on the boat floating all afternoon. The biting flies were at our ankles. It made relaxing a little bit tougher. But the margaritas helped ease the pain.
