Alright, y'all gotta let me know where the good food spots are. I live in DFW but frequent PHX about 3 times a year to see family and golf and haven't been able to find a real good meal yet. Me and a buddy were out there last weekend and were pretty bummed on the food. The golf course food was just straight up bad (Raven, Legacy, TPC Scottsdale) the one bright spot was El Chorro which I'll say was pretty excellent. However we were on the hunt for some good Mexican food, I kept hearing how y'alls Mexican food is quite a bit different from the locals compared to our typical Mexican cuisine down in Ft. Worth? We ended up trying Fuego Bistro, which was definitely good but I didn't really feel like it was "Mexican" it felt like a latin-american fusion type.

Anyways, I think we're going to head back out in the winter for some more golf, maybe do some sight seeing. This time the wife will be coming. What do y'all recommend as far as getting the following:

1. Breakfast/Brunch spot
2. Mexican
3. Steakhouse

Thanks!

I can't help with north Scottsdale. Due to demographics (low Hispanic population and high rents), that's just not the ideal place to find really authentic Mexican food.

Raven and Legacy, however, are in South Phoenix. That's near plenty of good Mexican food. I suggest Comedor Guadalajara and Poncho's on south Central Avenue. Comedor Guadalaraja does a nice Mexican breakfast, too.

I'm a Houstonian that previously lived in Scottsdale.

When visiting AZ (or California for that matter), I'm fine to skip the Mexican food. I prefer Tex-Mex.

I did like the tacos at Barrio Queen (there is one in Old Town Scottsdale and a new one in North Phoenix). However, I feel that that place has gone downhill.

I tend to stick to Southwestern instead of Mexican when visiting AZ. I like the Spotted Donkey Cantina in Carefree, Cowboy Ciao in Scottsdale, Sierra Bonita in Phoenix, and Richardsons/Rokerij are good.

For breakfast, I like the Original Pancake House and Snooze, but I believe you have those in Dallas.

Over Easy is very good as well.

For a classier brunch, Arcadia Farms in Old Town is always good.

For steak, I just go to Ruth's Chris or Fleming's, but you already have those in Dallas.

Another good breakfast option near Raven & Legacy is the Morning Glory Cafe, part of the Farm at South Mountain.

For southwestern style food, I recommend Los Dos Molinos (New Mexican food)

Breakfast: Dicks Hideaway 16 St/Bethany Home

Mexican: Too many to name, but Rositas Place gets an honorable mention 23rd St/McDowell
Mi Patio is a good spot for Chimichangas (invented in Arizona) 7th Ave / Osborne
Or you could get Sonoran Hot Dogs at Guero Canelo (51st Ave/McDowell) or Moreno’s (Broadway/Horne in Mesa)

Steakhouse: the correct response is Durant’s. That place is a gem
