I was thinking of running somewhere between 6-8am. Hopefully that’ll keep me out of the worst of the sun.

One of the guys coming on the trip heard that Pinnacle Peak makes for a great run. Obviously much tougher than a flat 5mi, but what do y’all think of that trail? Is it crazy steep requiring a walking pace or are there some switch backs? I wouldn’t mind a shorter tough run, but I’m also not looking to get hurt 5 weeks before my race.

At that hour? Most likely not. 7 AM? Yes. Keep a sharp eye out for rattlers. Ive seen several on that trail, as small as it is.

I wouldn't go to Pinnacle Peak for your run. It's narrow and tight in some places. I think if you are just looking to get your run in not far from your location, the suggestion of Reach 11 is a good one. Otherwise, go to the Indian Bend Wash Greenbelt or to Papago Park.
