The things you mention can happen anywhere, but I agree about the fireworks. Been in Chandler since 1992, (for those of you who would jump on this thread and say that the castle was here first).
HATE them. Wish it was something we could have voted on!

Downtown Chandler is slowly evolving. Flix Brewhouse and the Overstreet development will bring a lot more traffic. Lots of high-density living. There are already condos and they're building more literally 6 feet from Chandler Boulevard.

The last time I was in Chandler and Gilbert, the downtown areas seemed rather unimpressive. Downtown Gilbert reminds me of what Old Town Scottsdale looked like about 40+ years ago. Both Chandler and Gilbert are decent suburbs, and that's all they were really intended to be. Even with all the development plans, both downtown areas will likely never be anything like Tempe or Scottsdale.

We just left Ocotillo area of Chandler, having lived all over the Valley (Tempe, North Scottsdale, Chandler) we LOVED Ocotillo and Chandler and only left because we wanted to be closer to family. Most of our friends are in Gilbert but totally not our jam. Both places have pros and cons so pick what you like best.

You're a classic example of a pathetic suburbanite who gets scared at the first sign of trouble and creates a false narrative in his/her mind to justify a sense of fear. I'm sure you get scared when the Alvarez family moves next door, haha... All of the things you mentioned are not the type of problems exclusive to Chandler. There's probably some dude getting off on kiddie porn in some other nondescript boring suburb like Chandler, hell maybe it could be Gilbert. How that affects your safety is another question altogether. If you think Gilbert is superior to Chandler then you have a serious problem. Frankly, I'm tired of you suburban waste of space that are paranoid. I think Maricopa or Queen Creek will serve you best.

Did your blessed son/daughter's car get towed at Fulton Ranch... I'm so confused by a lot of the comments you're making to justify how Chandler is a horrible place. None of those things are even really problems. Who cares if people can't take homecoming pictures in a NEIGHBORHOOD. Egging people's houses? Dude that's what teenagers do. Goodwill? Oh god...let me give you a lesson on Phoenix Metro Real Estate 101. Greedy developers overbuild here, shopping plaza stays dormant, Goodwill moves in when nobody else really wants that space. Cycle repeats throughout the Valley, even in newer areas.

I really hope your 65+ because these don't sound like the ramblings of a sane, non-senile person.

I don't get how people are saying that Downtown Gilbert is better than Downtown Chandler or that there's more activity at one place or the other. Both of them are boring and lame. Sorry, but they only exist to create some local activity for both cities and because it's the modern political act to revitalize downtown. I mean Chandler really had to do that because their downtown was pretty much abandoned, with the housing in terrible shape and Gilbert's downtown was just plain boring. It's good that they exist, but I don't expect either to develop to a standard that Downtown Scottsdale has become, by which I mean people outside of the East Valley will go out of their way to visit. The competition that I see between Gilbert and Chandler residents is akin to a pissing contest where one person is trying to argue about whether a used 2005 Honda Accord or 2005 Toyota Camry is better.

nope...just a horrible place...besides, Peoria just got rated the best suburb in the Metro...people should really consider moving there.

Thanks for the insults though...really makes your case. Lighten up Francis.

I don't really care buddy. I hope all of Phoenix turns into a slum. It started with Maryvale and it will end when West Valley is completed.

Why do you want that to happen? I'm considering moving to a Phoenix suburb once I find another job down there. Your comments are detracting from the subject at hand.
