I will be moving to Arizona this year and was hoping to get some insight with regard to the areas I am looking to move in. What are your thoughts about housing, entertainment and diversity in the Gilbert, Chandler and Queen Creek areas?

I'm in the same exact boat as you! I'm done with the Chicagoland area. I'm about to turn 26 and am looking to move in an area with people around my age. I'll be following this thread.

I am really interested in what people have to say. I know the cold weather we are having this week solidified your decision.

As stated a thousand times before, where will you be working? This is the single most important thing to consider when choosing housing here. This valley is gigantic and commuting from Queen creek to downtown would be a nightmare. As far as diversity and entertainment Gilbert and Queen creek don't rank very high on either of those. Chandler is a little better, but still suburbia.

If you search this forum you will find LOTS of advice regarding those areas. Don't expect much in the way of "diversity".

I'm just curious... when OP's are asking for 'diversity' what exactly are we referring to here ?

Being in an area that has variety; whether it be racially, culturally, housing stock, amenities, etc.

All of which are completely different areas of 'diversity' and far too broad of a question.

I feel like this forum needs a "So you're moving here" sticky at this point. "Where are you working" and "What is your budget?" Should be required reading and maybe a fill-out form since we get so many threads asking the same thing.

Also, the sticky should have a graph/chart/color code of some sort that depicts the correlation between the increase in posts and the decrease in temps up north. Maybe something like a 5 icicle alert system?

Yes, I agree, but the poster I was responding to seemed to be asking about all posters in general. Perhaps asking the OP to clarify would satisfy this specific inquiry.
