This is precisely why some of these suburban "villages" that are part of Phoenix would have been better off being their own separate communities, and not just Ahwatukee. Paradise Valley Village and Deer Valley shouldn't have been annexed by Phoenix either. I'd much rather have smaller individual municipal governments instead of a huge bloated bureaucratic city government. We've seen the evidence that street maintenance has been severely lacking, even after the tax increase went into effect ... so it's not entirely about lack of money as some would suggest.

Surprisingly, Ahwatukee isn't fully built-out yet. A bunch of new homes are planned on a large parcel of land that was recently sold.
