The section of Phoenix that seems like a completely separate city, and has often been referred to as "the world's largest cul de sac" wins the honor of best place to live in the Valley. You can read the comments on Ahwatukee, as well as what others had to say about many other areas on niche.com.

I think it's one of the prettiest areas in the metro. I go to a client office in that area. There's also a lot of support businesses there now - grocery stores, restaurants, etc. If I could afford the rents, I'd move to that area in a heartbeat.

The prettiest areas to me are the McCormick & Gainey Ranch areas of Scottsdale. Love the fact that it's a greenbelt with plentiful parks, as well as how the individual neighborhoods are very well kept up despite being a somewhat older area. I feel the same way about affordability: if I could afford to live there, I definitely would. Ahwatukee is nice, but the traffic congestion and being butted up against South Mountain wouldn't be very attractive to me.

Maybe we're thinking two different areas, but traffic in the part on the south side of South Mountain is not that congested. Ray Rd has about 4 blocks that get crowded during shopping times, where all the box stores are, but otherwise the traffic is light, especially on Chandler Blvd.

I like that the area there is desert landscape with color and trees.

Garbage clickbait lists, who cares? Litchfield Park is in the top 10? One of the best places to live is right up against Luke and has terrible schools? Seems legit.

I love the area but the traffic would drive me nuts.

I think Fountain Hills is the prettiest town but like Ahwatukee it is quite isolated. Being next to the I10 is nice but as previous post say, the congestion is bad untill the 202 is finished

Luckily they are less than a year away from having the 202 completed. That is going to help immensely. Agree Fountain Hills is very pretty but it's more isolated than Ahwatukee without the benefit of being adjacent to an interstate to get in or out (though being by the Beeline does help). Certainly more expensive, as well.

Maybe when they finish the 202, then I may live out there, IF it helps with traffic.
