Pretty amazing for 3 short years, no? Look especially at the northern end of downtown (right side of picture)...the Sheraton hotel, the Cronkite School, the ASU dorms. Then you have the Summit condo tower next to the ballpark and 44 Monroe, plus you can see the Cityscape construction site and even the elevator tower of One Central Park East already.

Can't wait to see what downtown will look like in just another 3 more years.

First picture found on Flickr (taken by cogdogblog), second on Google.

Nice comparison. The intensity of development in the last two or three years has been impressive. Let's hope the momentum is not lost with the recession.

Hopefully projects like the One Central Park East office tower and the whole Cityscape project carry us through until things stabilize again and we can get a new wave of development similar to what we have seen the last few years.

Great comparison HX_Guy. Thanks for all the wonderful pictures you post!

I remember when there was a ton of construction around that arched building and I was wondering what was going on at the time but I never got back quick enough to find out.

The skyline of Downtown Phoenix looks better than ever. I too wonder what it will look like in three more years.

My question too, at first. The top pic is 2008, bottom 2005. I had to scroll up and down a few times to see the difference...

Nice pics though!

It's like one of those things in the kids magazines where you find the 15 differences between the two drawings.

Oh come on...the bright multi-colored condo tower next to the ballpark doesn't stand out? Or the blue condo tower to the right of the US Bank tower (white tower in middle of pic) or the beige Sheraton downtown hotel tower in the right side of the picture? Or the all new convention center?

I guess you gotta be a fan of this stuff to really notice it.
