Hello, I have 7 beagles, all house trained, all good dogs, and definately my babies. We live in Florida right now and are thinking about relocating to the Phoenix area. What is a nice city to search for houses where I could bring all my babies?

I doubt any cities really care as long as the dogs are cared for, but the HOAs often limit the number of pets and every new development has an HOA. So you need to look for non-HOA properties or more rural properties where people have goats and horses etc. There are a lot of 3-acre parcels just south of the new developments in Maricopa where one can live the way they want to.

Just please remember to be very careful with your babies here in the summer which is now- it was 98 on Monday! NEVER - ever leave them in an unattended car! If you walk them- remember to take water & I always walk out the door barefoot first- if the sidewalk is to hot to stand on - you certainly don't want to take your 'kids' hot footing on a walk. You probably already know all this.....but so many newcomers don't realize how deadly the heat can be. It makes me crazy to see a dog in a car without the air on.
There are several great dog parks in the valley.

Good luck...........

I dont think Arizona is the best place for you and your dogs. It gets extremely hot and there will not be near as much green yards/parks for your dogs to play. If they are a big part of your life, you may want to really look into this decision before you make it

Default Don't move to Az with dogs

What you never read about the southwest is a nasty dis ease called Valley fever. It affects almost all who live there. It is a fungus of the lungs generally and people ,for the most part, only have flu like symptoms for a short time. dog are very different. We lived in Tucson ,all my babies got Valley Fever. They were incrediably sick and took Fluconazol (at $5.00 s a pill) daily the rest of the years we stayed. Please look into this. We moved back to Florida and although we loved Tucson it was not worth the loss of our pet family.

Totally agree. With so many bow wow's you might find a more outdoor friendly place that would better suit you and your pooches.

Thanks, I think with a block wall I should be fine. I read Valley Fever has something to do with how much or lack of rain. AZ is not the only state that has it. Cheers!

valley fever is a very real concern out here, but the cost of treatment can be fairly reasonable - az is a fine place for dogs and there is a wide variety of places to live

definitely check the CCRs of any HOA you move into - 7 beagles shouldn't be a problem with most unless you are breeding/running a kennel

we have a very nice dog park here in goodyear that i take my boxer to and there are all sizes of lots to choose from as well - it's not that hard to still find farm like horse properties out here, although definitely not the everyday norm and probably not the most convenient

the summers are very rough on dogs and of course water and shade are key - i'm a big advocate of keeping your dogs indoors or having a doggy door - with 7 it doesn't sound like you are someone who'll keep them chained up in the backyard baking
