And yet we can support a Trader Joes and a Sprouts.

Well you don't create more Prime members with a lack of Whole Foods stores.

Different demo, different price point, arguably different quality. Yes.

Sprouts would be a decent idea. The QC sprouts is insanely busy. I believe the produce dept alone does well over 100,000 per week. Would make a big dent in the Safeway. I heard the building has sold already.

I wonder to who. I just have doubts that Sprouts would open another store in close proximity to the existing Queen Creek location. The nearest Whole Foods on the other hand is at 101 and Ray in Chandler.

BTW, there are ongoing rumors that once Albertsons completes its round of closures of redundant stores, all remaining Arizona Albertsons stores will be rebranded to the Safeway name, since Safeway is the stronger brand in Arizona.

The wonder is why Cerberus Capital, which owned Albertsons and bought Safeway in 2015, didn't consolidate stores sooner.
Frankly, they ran Safeway into the ground.

You target the demo likely to become Prime members and the demo that shops at a store like Whole Foods (generally young and educated with no kids) v. Walmart and Frys. There’s a reason every Whole Foods in the area is Central and East. That is not the SC/SCW/Surprise crowd. Let’s not pretend it is.

I recently moved here from Colorado Springs, and that is exactly what was done there.

It's not the Prescott crowd, either, which is why WFM pulled out.
