Sorry I wasn't clear. Let me reword it. I've lived in multiple cities where the majority of charities did NOT do furniture pickup. So don't assume that all charities in the Phoenix metro will pick up discarded furniture.

When I was living in central Tucson, people would drive up and down the streets every day looking for free furniture and stuff that people would leave at the curb. When I moved out of my apartment in May, I left a futon sofa, a few wooden chairs, a wooden table and a few other small furniture items at the curb, and all were gone within 2 hours. No hassle, no problem. In Phoenix, I would guess there are also people who look for free stuff left at the curb? Most take the stuff to a flea market or to give it to others.

UH HUH.

I was making a comment about how what ABQ thrift stores do has NOTHING to do with what PHX thrift stores do. But thanks for 'splaining it.

I have had items picked up by the Humane Society for their thrift stores. (I prefer to donate to animal causes than Goodwill.)

No, you were clear. Maybe my joke wasn't. I was saying that what they do in ABQ is not relevant here.

Phoenix certainly offers this but, 99 times out of 100, someone will pick it up first. To me, it appears someone is taking this stuff to south Phoenix to resell at a thrift store. That's great - a form of recycling so to speak.

If you live in a rural location, a lot of places will NOT come all the way out to pick up. I recently gave away a mattress on OfferUp. I had 7 interested people message me. Ultimately, I gave it to a guy who just lost his house to a fire. I gave him some other things as well. He showed us pictures..devastating!

Out where we live, a lot of furniture gets dumped on the side of the road near farmland. So I agree with the OP, please don't dump your crap on the side of the road!
