Must not have been to either downtown in the last 5 years. Both have made huge changes in the last decade. Great breweries and night life in both.

I would rent in the area where I worked. Or near a light rail station which would take me walking distance to a job in another city.

To be young and rocking and rolling at night is great age to be.

But the freeways in the Phx metro can be a real pain to travel during rush hour.

We talked about Agritopia before, but are there any areas where you can walk to restaurants and shopping? I was in Gilbert last week looking at rentals. Things were looking bleak in terms of places I might like to dine, but maybe I was in the wrong neighborhoods.
There are some developments around downtown Gilbert that are easily walkable. They are pricey, though.

Not designed as a walkable area, but there are apartments and townhomes in the San Tan Village area that are walkable (~1 mile radius) to dozens of restaurants, a Trader Joes, Sprouts Farmers Market, Costco, and all of the retail at the mall proper.

That sounds great. Strictly speaking, I'd probably be using my Segway instead of walking, so a mile is very doable.

I'll see what I can find in that area. Thanks.

I can think of at least 2 walkable areas in Chandler.
Anderson springs (my neighborhood) is near grocery stores, has a couple of miles of greenbelts and walking paths. Restaurants along Ray / Dobson and down Chandler Blvd. Also further south in the Ocotillo subdivisions.

Scottsdale is nice (I grew up there), but the home prices are over-inflated and has higher taxes. It's a great place to visit though, so is South Tempe.
