This is a trend- the experience factor is becoming more and more important compared to the utility factor in cars. So people accept that the longevity of cars goes down (complex electronic systems not worth repairing) to be able to enjoy the experience, fun-factor more while it lasts.

Candidly I get my motoring enjoyment out of classic collector cars (mainly early 911s); not dumbed-down new cars where the driver is nothing more than an obliging spectator. (However newer cars are great for those of us in the automotive service industry as they are very user-unfriendly for owners who were in the past, do-it-yourselfer's.)

Shifting, steering, and actually using mirrors instead of a camera much more exhilarating and engaging.

To each his/her own.

Speaking of collector cars... also great time to be on the look out. Seeing some terrific opportunities right now.

You are right. Some people want to be more interactive. Analogies: staying in a tent for a vacation while I prefer a plush, decked out hotel. Some people now want to clean a vinyl record and listen on a turntable (a huge surge in this category). I, however, want to pick 2,000 of the 45,000,000 songs in my streaming library with cover art at my fingertips; never standing up to change a song. Both people are right.

The automotive industry always could count on me bringing it in for repair. My personal mantra is outsourcing. I'll do what I do best and hire someone to do what they do best.
