What do you all think is a reasonable price to pay to have 10 tons of 3/4" screen Madison Gold rock delivered and spread in a backyard?

I don't want to lift a finger for a project like this.

Are you going to put the black paper down or whatever type ground covering they use nowadays?

I can't speak for the cost of hiring someone to spread it, but the going retail rate for the rock itself is around $45-$55 per ton including delivery. Most of the rock places don't do spreading themselves so you have to hire people separately for that.

$55 a ton was a quote I got....ended up having 2 neighbors help me and we moved all 15 tons into small piles around the backyard in under 1 hour. the rest of the week I slowly spread it out on my own. it can be done on your own and money saved. I didn't ask for help, my neighbors saw the piles and me doing it and they all came out with shovels and wheel barrels

Check craigslist. I've seen prices around $25/ton. I just did 10 tons by myself. Took a week and I needed the exercise, but I'd certainly pay $25/ton every day of the week.

It seems rock prices have increased a lot in 6 years and apparently there is no economic depression for rock and installation prices. Back then, I was receiving quotes for around $32/ton for 3/4 screened Madison Gold plus $20 a ton to spread. Now, the rock is between $40 to $50 per ton and the labor to spread around $35.
