Hi everyone, I'd like to know your thoughts regarding air conditioning type preferences as I'm looking to buy a new one to replace my window type. I'm mainly torn between a mini-split type, and a central air conditioner, I'm leaning more towards the mini-split because aside from being cheaper it's also ductless unlike a central AC system based on what I read herehttps://americanhomewater.com/cost-of-a-new-air-conditioner-in-phoenix/ I'd love to hear your thoughts as to why you prefer one over the other, also how different are they when it comes to maintenance cost and upkeep? Do you have any HVAC contractor recommendations? I think the site I linked belong to an HVAC contractor as well, but I wanna hear your thoughts first. Thanks!

I can't tell you what type of unit is best for you, but I can recommend American Home Water and Air (the site you linked to). They replaced the two ancient heat pump units on my roof in early September. They provided the best service I have had from any contractor - ever. They weren't the lowest price, but they were within $500 on a $12.5k job, and the extra level of service was well worth it.

- I called when one unit died on a 115 deg. day and someone was here in 2 hrs. and made repairs quickly.
- While here, the service tech was able to get me a quote for new units and schedule installation.
- Applied full credit for repair charges ($600) to quote.
- Installed a week later. Crew was efficient, clean, respectful, and friendly. 4 hrs total for two roof units.
- The quote was all-inclusive and firm. Included sheet metal work for transitions, crane service, and disposal of old units. No extra charge when they had to upgrade the wiring to one unit and replace both drain lines.
- Follow up service visit after 30 days to check on everything (no charge).
- Follow up phone call this week to ask if heating function had been used and was it OK.
- Called again this week to remind me about tax credits and emailed the proper IRS forms to me.

AHWA was on my radar because someone told me they were the best contractor for water softeners, and when the AC died and nobody else would show up I figured I'd give their HVAC team a shot. Very glad I did.

Both of those are very good options and I have no preference over the other but I can recommend a very good air conditioning contractor. The company is called John's Refrigeration
